World Wetland Day
On the 1st February 2020, BirdLife Botswana joined the Department of Environmental Affairs and other conservation organisations in Botswana to celebrate the World Wetlands Day in Maun, Botswana. The Minister of Environment, Wildlife Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism Hon. Philda Nani Kereng gave a key note address. The theme of the event was 'Life thrive in Wetlands'. World Wetlands Day is commemorated to raise global awareness about the role of wetlands for people and our planet. This day also marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on the 2nd February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar.
